In a health care setting, local, state and federal policies set standards and benchmarks for clinical practice. The use of dashboards helps hospitals meet these requirements and monitor performance.

This paper evaluates a specific metric in the dashboard developed by Mercy Medical Center in Minnesota. This metric measures the standard of care for deteriorating patients.

Assessment 1

Performing an evaluation of a dashboard is a crucial step in improving health care quality. By analyzing the metrics of a hospital’s performance and comparing them with national standards, healthcare organizations can identify areas for improvement NURS FPX 6004 Assessment 1 Dashboard Benchmark Evaluation  and develop strategies to improve patient outcomes.

To conduct this assessment, I reviewed the performance dashboard for a large medical center. I focused on evaluating metrics such as treatment costs, readmission rates, and staff-to-patient ratios. I also analyzed the organization’s adherence to the national guidelines for glycemic control. I found that the organization was not meeting the prescribed benchmarks for several measures, including treatment costs and ER wait times.

Overall, the dashboard was well-received by participants. Participants identified a need to improve the dashboard’s functionality by facilitating multiple health systems integration and by providing clinicians with training on using the dashboard. Additionally, the dashboard should include a comprehensive showcasing of the tool’s functions and utility to encourage clinicians to use it regularly.

In addition to evaluating the performance of a dashboard, it is important to consider local, state, and federal health care laws and policies that set benchmarks for health care organizations. By identifying a benchmark that is below the mandated standard, an organization can evaluate its challenges in meeting the benchmark NURS FPX 6004 Assessment 3 Policy Proposal Presentation and determine which areas need the most attention. The organization can then advocate for ethical action in addressing the benchmark underperformance and promoting its improvement.

Assessment 2

This assessment examines the quality of a healthcare system's dashboard. The system uses a combination of tools to help its employees identify patient safety issues and prioritize patient care. It also helps staff track progress towards goals and targets. The system is based on a patient-centered model and aims to deliver better outcomes for patients. The dashboard is an effective tool for managing patient safety and improving the overall quality of healthcare.

Several factors can affect the ability of healthcare organizations to meet prescribed benchmarks NURS FPX 6004 Assessment 2 Policy Proposal and standards. These include the size and resources of the organization, operational policies and procedures, and the population it serves. In addition, a health care organization may struggle to meet certain benchmarks due to insufficient IT infrastructure or a lack of funding.

The use of a deteriorating patient dashboard can improve the way a hospital manages its most critical patients. The dashboard helps nurses and physicians make informed decisions about patient care. It also helps managers stay on top of compliance with government regulations. The dashboard can also improve the quality of patient care and reduce costs.

However, many healthcare organisations find it difficult to implement the dashboard properly. A common problem is a lack of training and guidance on how to use the dashboard. Another issue is the difficulty of finding and accessing the data NURS FPX 6008 Assessment 1 Proposing a New Initiative in the system. Moreover, some staff do not feel comfortable using the dashboard because of its complexity.

Assessment 3

The benchmark evaluation process is an important tool for improving healthcare service quality. It helps to assess the current level of service and identifies the areas that need improvement. It also helps to identify the factors that influence a hospital’s performance, including staffing and the patient population. The results of this assessment can help to improve the quality of care and increase patient satisfaction.

The deteriorating patient dashboard developed by Barts Health NHS Trust is an online data visualisation of NEWS2, assessment and escalation for deteriorating patients (figure 1 and online supplemental appendix). It was created from Vitals records from five academic hospitals, including Mile End Hospital, Newham University Hospital, Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, and St Bartholomew’s Hospital. It includes live and accumulative data, as well as historical data. The dashboard was perceived as a useful and efficient tool for quality improvement by its users.

The dashboard metrics showed a decline in foot inspection and HgbA1c testing. This is due to a lack of knowledge and training for nurses. It is suggested that the inclusion of stakeholder involvement and a focus on enhancing testing skills NURS FPX 4000 Assessment 4 Analyzing a Current Health Care Problem  for HgbA1c and foot inspection tests may alleviate underperformance in these areas. In addition, it is recommended that the use of a standardized database to facilitate data extraction and query writing could enhance the functionality of the dashboard.

Assessment 4

We developed a real-time dashboard using EHR data to investigate deteriorating patients in five academic hospitals in the largest NHS trust in England (Barts Health NHS Trust). We followed a Plan, Do, Study, Act model with the Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence framework. Data were extracted from EHRs and analysed via a Qlik Sins dashboard, with the help of a dedicated team of specialised nurses. The dashboard was evaluated using a purposive sample of users interviewed according to the Technology Acceptance Model.

The results showed that the dashboard has potential for improving deteriorating patient management. However, several challenges need to be addressed. One such challenge is the lack of awareness of the deteriorating patient process, which can be mitigated by training staff. Another challenge is the low number of foot inspection and HgbA1c testing, which can be improved by inter-professional teamwork. Finally, the lack of awareness of ethical considerations can be overcome by educating staff about these issues. In addition, implementing a more transparent reporting structure can improve the usability of the dashboard and encourage staff to use it regularly. This can lead to higher performance and better compliance with the national benchmarks. Ultimately, these changes can help prevent patients from becoming victims of unavoidable harm. Moreover, they can help reduce health care costs and improve patient outcomes.
