It's obvious that you're always in the same group with WOW TBC Gold some incredible dps. The average I get for a hybrid class isn't good considering all the other elements I add to it. I also provide an additional 5% of critique to all the other students.
I'm sure you can wield more power in your group's comp and the ability to obtain items you want by tanking. Even if you do dps in raid or whatever. My main job is as a lock and yes, I can achieve 1500 dps. My alt ret pally has 800+ dps in trash , and 1k+ for bosses. I obtained all the gear I needed for ret on the pally by tanking and healing whenever I needed to, and later, I was able to acquire dps gear by running with other classes that would compete with me or even excluding them from the competition.
Do you mean heroics or raids? If that person was talking about rogues providing value through CC and aiding with things like off healing, he's probably talking about heroics. Considering that the average amount of dps tends to be lower without consumables and buffs to raids.
The main thing is that in heroics with larger packs. Locks can seed which can boost dps much higher. I can still do 1500 against bosses by putting one target on my lock, if the tank can hold threat.
If you've got a well-equipped pally tank and a lock with large pulls, then everybody in the group can become a carry for any boss but you. Hunters will be smoked, as are Mages, too, unless they're poor health, and the mage can snipe before seeds start to go off.
Although 500 dps is a bit low for a single boss they must still be at or above 1k if given the same conditions (fast kill times, high buffs) and if they own any gear.
I'm between 400 and 500 DPS as a feral tank. With the dorky level 40 hat, you'll need a higher cat appearance. If not, then if the other person has said is true. You should just go tank.
Feral tanks are able to swap DPS to item rack and tank DPS cats can utilize it very easily. The difference in skills between tank and best DPS cat is just one or two points. There's no need to be in the wild DPS just for the sake of it.
