Skill Assessment with Australian Computer Society for ICT Professionals

The Australian Computer Society is the principal body in charge of determining applying for a Skill Assessment for ICT professionals.

The Australian Computer Society is the primary institution in charge of candidate skill assessments. ACS assesses potential migrant ICT professionals on behalf of the Australian Government to ensure they fulfill the relevant assessing authority standards for employment in a specified occupation in Australia.

The analysis aims to evaluate the applicant's knowledge, skills, and talents that they have acquired throughout their school year and job experience. A candidate might prepare for their skill evaluation with the help of a competent migration agency.

The ACS Guidelines outline the prerequisites for using the Migration Skills Assessment program to apply for a skills assessment. They do not, however, provide specific information on migration or visa requirements. The Department of Home Affairs handles all visa-related tasks.

Making an online application

  1. The information and authentic papers you submit in the online application form will be used to assess your migration skills. In your application, you must provide the following papers.

  2. The first page of your passport's identification page, which contains your name and other details.

  3. Evidence of a name change (if applicable)

  4. Certificate of Achievement or Degree: The name of the college or institution where the degree was earned. Your certification will be declared ineffective if you cannot produce sufficient documentation of degree completion.

  5. Add the titles of your units, topics, or points earned in chronological order to your degree or award transcript. You must also present proof of your undergraduate degree if you have a postgraduate degree.

  6. References from past employers, as well as proof of paid work, are required.

  7. You'll also need to fill out an ACS RPL form if you're applying for an RPL.

  8. Updated Resume needs to be uploaded in the personal document area.

  9. If appropriate, a form for authorizing a migration agent.

Before submitting an online application, make sure it's decision-ready, which means you've completed all of the required documents so your application can be assessed as fast as possible.

ACS is under no duty to obtain more information. Application of incomplete or incorrect documentation may result in a postponement of the submission and an inappropriate conclusion. Each candidate should double-check that the information they enter into the online application process is correct and accurately reflects their personal information, education, and job.

Application Status

When you submit your online application, you will receive an email confirmation. This will contain your ACS reference number and password, which may be used to log onto your dashboard and follow the status of your application online. We cannot give any further information about your application beyond what is available in the online application status.

Priority request

Candidates with a visa deadline in Australia of fewer than twelve weeks from the date of application are eligible for priority requests. The deadline must be given to applicants at least two weeks in advance. Proof of the visa date must be supplied as a PDF document for the request to be accepted. As evidence, below are some instances of documentation to upload:

  • The Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) website displays the visa expiration date.

  • A letter from the Department of Home Affairs authorizing you to enter the country.

The deadline notice must be received after the ACS skills application has been delivered. The ACS has the authority to approve a Priority Request depending on the deadline conditions. Priority requests that do not meet a visa deadline will be treated as regular applications.

Application Processing time

The time it takes for an application to be processed is determined by the papers you provide. Your application will be handled quickly if it is decision-ready and follows ACS criteria. In contrast, the application will take longer to process if the documents are incomplete and the authority has requested further documents. An application's regular processing period ranges from eight to 10 weeks at the most.

Assessment process

ACS will assess your academic credentials and work experience to see if they are at an expert ICT level and linked to the ANZSCO occupation. Your qualifications and skills will be assessed to verify that they meet the educational standards in Australia. The course unit will be assessed to determine if the ICT content of your qualification is Major, Minor, or Inadequate. Relevant work experience will also be assessed to see if it satisfies the standards for the chosen profession.

The ACS result letter will be sent to you in PDF format via email. If your evaluation is successful, the DOHA will get a letter and proof of your competence assessment. If your appeal is refused, you will get a letter outlining the reasons for the denial and information on the review and appeal process.

Renewal and reapplication

Letter renewal is not available from the Australian Computer Society. You must submit a new application via the online application portal after logging into your dashboard.

Translation of Documents

Translations are necessary for documents written in languages other than English. Both the original and translated versions of the document must be provided to be assessed. Within Australia, document translation translators approved by the NAATI should be used to get acceptable translations (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters).

Outside of Australia, document translation Translations that are suitable can be found at:

• A Ministry of Justice or similar in the country where the certificate was received

• An Australian Diplomatic Missions Australian Education International Section (AEIS)

• Australian High Commission, Consulate, or Embassy

• Private and Commercial Translators

• The Awarding Institution

Overseas translations must be done on the organization's letterhead and include an official seal and the translator's name, address, and phone number legibly written beneath the signature.

The ACS shall call the interpreter if required to validate the correctness of the translated papers based on the given information.
