Avoid this salon!!!! I went in for blonde highlights/foils. My hair is naturally a light brown/goldish colour. I then came out with dirty ash brown hair. I told her my hair looks no lighter, in fact it's darker. She told me "it will fade" and to wash it. I returned the next day and said I'm not happy, I want it fixed. My hair was then chemically stripped right back to a brassy yellowish on top and over processed white blonde with uneven streaks at the sides. Not even or properly blended. One side has a huge blob and thick foil, the other side has a few thin strands, they're totally uneven. I returned a third time, and was mocked and ridiculed in front of staff, and told it was my own fault because I didn't know what colour I wanted (even though I had sat with her a day before my appointment and looked at the colour chart and told her what I wanted and what colour) . I then had to pay AGAIN (they refused to fix at their cost) to get a conditioning treatment (as my hair was so stripped and dry), and to get some more brown gold foils to blend the overdone fringe and top of my hair. She refused to fix the blob and redo my hair with proper foils. I was made to feel it was my fault. Very unprofessional, poor quality hairdressing. Avoid it like the plague!!!!
One of the worst haircuts I have ever had. I had been sick for a while, as a result I was losing my hair. It had finally grown back so I built up the confidence to get my hair cut. BIG MISTAKE! I went into the so called salon with a picture as alot of us always do. The girl look at it once(even though I left it open on my phone the entire time), she cut the back of my hair and my fringe and that was it. When I questioned it and said it looked nothing like the picture she did a couple more cuts when I decided to give up before I had no hair left. I went to another salon straight away and they couldn't believe the mess that was there. Layering was atrocious, one side was an inch longer than the other and the fringe was way to short to fix properly. Whatever you do avoid this place like the plague, unless you want to leave in tears like I did.

Never going back again. Have been a client for years. Worse experience. Rude staff. Rough beauty therapist. Put wax all over clothes, face and arms. Never apologised.
I would not recommend this salon. Kamal gave me the worse 'trim' on Saturday where she hacked a LOT of my hair off. It is uneven and unprofessional. I doubt she is even qualified. The manager Sambel then tried to fix the problem by cutting off more length and thinning out the layers at the front of my face. I didn't want layers. I wanted a trim because my wedding is in two weeks. I am absolutely devastated.
To add insult to it all they offered me a $10 discount. I decided this morning after doing my own hair that that really didn't cut it so I went back to complain. I wanted to speak to the manager and there was no one there. Another hair dresser offered to fix the problem, however I declined. I am not going to risk it a third time to see if they can get it right. The staff member contacted the manager and she said there was a no refund policy.
My question is - where are the qualifications? Why should I have to pay twice to get my hair trimmed?
The front in uneven (right hand side is much shorter), the right hand side is jagged and hacked at from where they tried to fix the mistake. My hair is damaged and I do not think someone with a qualification would cut my hair in this way.
My hair is absolutely ruined for my wedding which I will have to look at for the rest of my life!
HORRIBLE SERVICE! Rude staff, extensions were too tight and not blended properly. The hair extension quality has also gone down hill.

Most of the lovely staff you talk about have left already , if they haven't yet tell them to check there entitlements ( superannuation / holiday pay etc ) I bet Maria Gloria is ripping them off ( like I was )
Contact the tax office / department of Fair Trading and your accountant to find out what can be done to get YOUR money off her!.
This is not the way to treat honest hardworking Australians !

I love the stuff at Sheike in hair and beauty they are lovely girls with grate hearts . I've always had a good experience with my hair and beauty services . Maria how ever treats her stuff like slaves !! I hope she wakes up to her self and realises with out happy stuff you can't have a good business . Girls from Sheike were talking about not having brakes on Saturdays becouse Maria the boss dosent let them I was very surprised to have heard that ! I hope Maria gets off her high horse and makes changes around the salon before all the lovely stuff leave !!
The old women that ownes Sheike hair and beauty is a rude and very selfish two faced money steeling bitch ! When i come to get my hair done i see her walking around in her noisy heels bitching about her stuff and ripping them off . The stuff work really hard and always look tired unhappy and overwhelmed. I hope that Nasty women would give her stuff some credit for there hard work! I've been to Sheike a few times now and every time I've been i notice her discussing habits ! I will no longer go to Sheike as i feel ripped off and disturbed by Maria the nasty women with un brushed hair !!!!!
I was told by one of the staff members , Maria (owner) is going to try and sell the business and move back overseas. I was happy when the place first opened but it has gone down hill badly over the years. Hopefully the new owner can do a better job and I may return ( local resident )

I recently visited the Sheik Hair Salon in tuggeranong and had weft hair extensions put in. I was hesitant and nervous at first but had the chance to observe another customer having hers done and the process seemed good to me. There was no gluing. The hair was intricately stitched in and looked natural and beautiful. Maria (the store owner) made an appointment for me and was extremely professional and very kind. One of the loveliest ladies I have met. She went through the entire process with me and old me all the pros and cons. I am so happy with the results (I now have long thick hair in various shades of brown). Rather than reading all the negative comments- go in and speak to Maria! You won't regret it :)
Tried this place for the first time today, must say I will not be returning.
Found the staff lacking in professionalism and somewhat overpriced for the service I received. Oh and the fact the owners husband was a total Pervert ! Yuk

It was like going into a bad 90s time warp of a salon, poor quality fit out and generally dirty. Not happy with my overprice cut n colour , I told the hairdresser I wanted the owner Maria to look at it because I was upset with it and refused to pay full price. The hairdresser said to me " what would Maria know ? She's never done any formal training and she's not a qualified Stylist !! "

Wow. Thats all ive got to say this page is out of control! However I am here to post my review as I feel generally unhappy with my service. I had been to sheike hair dressing 2 times prior to my last nov-dec 2013 visit. Other times for weft extensions. I found Maria to be a lovely lady and really enjoyed having my hair done with her. However my last visit was horrible and I am deff paying for it not with damaged hair that I had to go else where to fix. I wanted a bollage look where the hair is brown at the roots then blonde. However what I ended up with was a very uneven yellow blonde on the bottom and brown on the top. Not even close to what I asked for. I will not be returning to this salon after paying close to $400 for something that did not turn out how it was supposed to. My new hair dresser charged me $180 and that was her working extra hard to fix the mess that was left behind which she did fantastic job!
Haircut okay, but massively overpriced considering it was an okay haircut and colour but not even close to what I wanted. The decor is horrible, as you sit to get your hair washed you get to stare at filthy roof vents, a white chair with colour stains (that look as if someone has shat all over the chair) and peeling wallpaper. Really nasty salon feel, with a premium top notch salon price, for that amount I'm heading back to Cataldo's where I paid less for more work!!!
I have just read through all the drama on this review page and am astonished by all the negative comments. I have recently had a pedicure completed and it was absolute bliss. I am 8 months pregnant and this was just what I needed to relax my aching feet. I was so pleased with my treatment that my husband has just bought me some vouchers for my birthday and I look forward to booking my next treatment. I am thinking massage…. TOTAL BLISS

My daughter recently had her hair cut and came out in tears. She asked for a trim and told the girl only a trim several times but then took about 3 inches off her length and then had to do the whole lot because it would of been uneven. Not only was the girl (indian origin)extremely rude and rough she did not even apologise and we still had to pay. Never will go there again and do not recommend anyone going there.

My teenage son just had his hair cut at Sheike last week and came home with an incredibly cool hair cut that he was very happy with. Even at Dazzle he got a really good cut earlier this year. No problems at all

Maria Gloria owns both Sheike and Dazzle Hair in the Tuggeranong Hyperdome, she underpays vulnerable staff members and rips them off with superannuation payments. It has taken both myself and 4 other former staff members over 2 years to receive a combined $40 000 in Super payments/holiday pay etc . The ATO are looking into this horrible business woman

I am one of at least 5 former staff members that are chasing the owner , Maria Gloria for thousands of dollars in unpaid Superannuation entitlements. Unfortunately the owner of this business can easily hire staff from overseas that mostly deliver poor service . I would urge honest hardworking people to spend their money elsewhere.
I have been here on a number of occasions for weft in hair Extensions and i can honestly say they do a fantastic job. I have only had one bad experience with getting a rude staff member who didn't really know what she was doing. but that was quickly resolved when i had mentioned it to i think the owner when i went in for another appointment.I understand people getting angry as there is nothing worse then paying all that money for something your not happy about but what is posting negative things about the business on sites such as this going to do. i know you can warn other people from going there but that's about it. if your unhappy about the service simply talk to someone about it so the problem can be fixed or so they can work toward fixing the problem.
imagine if you were a staff member there i know first hand you can get a lot of rude picky customers as well so it works both ways guys.

Staff are mainly new arrivals from Korea , that unfortunatly have minimal english skills so can be confusing when trying to explain what you wanted done.
I was told to speak to the owner if I was unhappy with the cost/service, I proceeded to do so only to be verbally abused by a five foot nothing little women!!.

Terrible service here most of the staff were rude ( although Jenny was polite ) The problem i had was one the stylists couldnt understand what I wanted so she kept on getting the other Asian girls to talk to me , so it ended up being a big mess. As the father of a recent empolyee of Maria Gloria ( Sheike Hair ) let me tell you my daughter was ripped off by this nasty woman! We have submitted claims with both Fair Trading ACT and the Australian Taxation office. I will be contacting Maria very shorly regarding my daughters unpaid annual leave and 2 years worth of unpaid SUPERANNUATION. People talk about tough economic times for business ?? what about the staff on wages that have families to feed and rent/mortgages to pay??
I hope Marias son or daughter dont get ripped off later in life by a boss like her, Now wouldnt that be Karma.....
I have to say that I am shocked by the reviews on this page, went in today for the first time and had a Brazilian with Maria, she is a very pleasant lady and was the fastest and by far the best wax I ever had, I rebooked and will be recommending the services to my friends, thank you and keep your head up!

This salon owner is very quick to put down her ex staff members & clients that have not been happy with there service in the salon or the treatment during there employment with her! She seems to be always saying how hard the pressures of running a business are, when she fails to realize that with unhappy clients & unhappy staff you have no business! Learn how to run a business propley! Stop blaming everyone else for your problems & the customers always right!
In response to the accusations that the Korean staff members are exploited, these girls have been employed with agency contracts and their wages are closely monitored by both ATO and Department of Immigration, not that I have to explain myself to anyone but their wages are in fact higher than the required Australian awards in order for them to be able to live away from home, to all people that comment on issues that they do not have any information about and make false speculations I say please get your facts right before you start writing about them. The Korean staff members are a great asset to any business as they are reliable and trustworthy people, I consider them family and with the help of my business I am proud to say that 2 staff members have been able to obtain Australia permanent residency and 1 more should have her approvals finalized within a month. To the Korean girls : thank you for all your hard work, I love you guys and hope that our friendship will last forever. Maria Gloria
The former staff members that have been writing their reviews here have forgotten to mention some of the reasons why they left the salon. When you take the business for granted and bring in all your friends and family and have them treated for free you have to expect that the owner will find out and not be happy with this, also it is not ok to have cash advances 2 to 3 times a week just because you can not manage your finances, it is also not ok to walk around the salon with your cup of coffee and toast and eat while performing treatments, banana peels and apple cores do not go on top of the reception desk there are rubbish bins around the salon for a reason. Crossing yourself off the books whenever is convenient and moving your requested clients with a different opperator is also not ok, assuming that you can take products/ equipment home and not pay for them is theft. So I am glad that some of the former staff members are former and not current.

I used to get my waxing/facials from there when they opened well over a year ago, i must say the service was quite good then.
My last 2 treatments (pre paid online ) were terrible and rushed. I asked the young therapist why is there such a large turn over of staff and she told me she had been there the longest and all the girls hated working for the owner. I will try somewhere else and if I hear good reviews again I may return...
I have to second the fact that Maria Gloria hires mainly poor staff from Korea, she sponsers them for a year or two and rips them off in the process.
My daughter worked for her and with the help of the Tax Office is fighting for her unpaid superannuation of over $5000.
Rumours are that she has purchased John Brennan Hair Tuggeranong.

The girls don't speak English and I found out none of them have recived super, everytime I've gone I've had to wait and everyone seems to not want to work for her. You could get a lot more for less.

I would dis-regard the negative reviews. It doesn't even sound like a customer more like an unhappy ex-staff member to me.
I love this place and have been going there for years. I always find that the staff are very helpful and I'm never dis-satisfied with the service.
Maria is fantastic. I do not understand how people can write about people like they have on here. She is always happy and polite. Yes the salon gets busy, and yes sometimes you may have to wait for 5-10 mins - but never any longer. But it's worth the wait. Does this not say something though. That they're always soooo busy?!?!
I have been having my waxing done by maria since she was at Erindale and would never go anywhere else.
The owner has been ripping her staff off for years, lets hope Fair Trading catches up with her sooner rather than later. It would be great to see this business close.

Booked in a full leg wax and facial with owner/manager, she was running 30 mins late for appointment, proceeded to rush the appointment and charge me full price!.
The spa is overly noisy (paper thin walls between treatment rooms)
So many nicer (and cheaper) in the area.
