Oxyhives

Oxyhives is, as usual, a product without clinical evidence to its name and with unfounded claims, but in this case, we have a homeopathic product, which adds to the skepticism that I feel about this product. Basically, it due to the fact that it is homeopathic. Now, I guess the saying "don't judge a book by its cover" may somewhat work here, perhaps I shouldn't judge it just because it uses homeopathic tinctures, however I feel like the only person that would say that would be someone that is unfamiliar with what homeopathy is and even more than that, a person that is unfamiliar with the practices and the beliefs that are found in homeopathy. Let me ask you this, if I take a substance and I dilute it in purified water and alcohol for 200 times, would you say that the substance has decreased or increased its potency? I bet the vast majority of people will agree that the substance would have reduced potency due to the extreme dilution.

Well, you'll see this in homeopathy done very often. In fact, apis mellifica, an ingredient in Oxyhives, is diluted 200 times. This means that the tincture has been diluted in water and alcohol for 200 times, but that is not the point. The point is, in homeopathy it is believed strongly that diluting these tinctures so many times improves their effect, basically the potency.

Now, from a scientifical, clinical, critical thinking point of view, that just doesn't make much sense. Since I did mention science, some of these homeopathic remedies, treatments, tinctures have been tested by science, in clinical trials. If you go and look for some clinical trials, chances are you will find that the result was no more than a placebo effect. A placebo effect can be given by something like a sugar cube used as placebo in a double-blind, randomized, controlled clinical trial. A placebo effect is not considered and will never be considered treatment. 

The fact that Oxyhives is a homeopathic product and that it uses homeopathic tinctures like lachesis, which is snake venom diluted in alcohol and purified water, simply can't be ignored.
