The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC, RoHS for short, is a directive of the European Union (EU). RoHS requires electrical and electronic equipment sold in the EU to contain no more than specified levels of six hazardous materials: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
