Shower regrouting
Shower Tile Re-grouting and
Epoxy
Are
you convinced that your shower
needs re-grouting?
STOP! You need to read this information before you make any decisions
WHY DOES YOUR SHOWER HAVE
MOULDY, MISSING OR CRACKED GROUT?
Under
normal conditions, a shower should NEVER need re-grouting.
Grout
is not a maintenance item that needs replacing or maintenance.
Grout
is a permanent installation that should never need replacement.
If your shower is displaying the following;
- Cracks
in the shower grout or floor tiles
- Missing
grout
- Holes
in the grout
- Mouldy
grout
- Efflorescence
of grout (Chalkiness/calcification)
- Mushrooms
or ants.
If
your grout displays these characteristics, there is more going on than you may
realise.
The missing, mouldy cracked or deterioration of grout are
symptoms of an underlying issue.
The grout is NOT the cause of these issues.
You may have heard claims by shower leak repair companies
claiming to have the ability to repair leaking showers without removing tiles.
You may have heard about under tile injections to repair
waterproof membranes beneath tiles.
We have also seen claims of over tile waterproofing, which again
will not provide a waterproof bathroom that will comply with Australian
Standards.
Some companies are even offering to tile over existing tiles;
this practice is at complete odds with the National Construction Code (NCC),
AS3740-2010
Waterproofing of Domestic Wet Areas and AS 3958.1-2007 Guide to Installation of
Ceramic Tiles.
25 year guarantees, lifetime warranties littered with terms and
conditions which would make a claim close to impossible, and even so, would
usually be limited to failed product replacement only.
