When you train, your body burns glycogen (stored sugars). If you allow glycogen levels remain very low, then the body will Alpha Limit  enter a catabolic state and degrade muscle tissue and other proteins in order to replenish glycogen stores. Which it is bad thing, because it means that these proteins are not available to build new muscles recover or to allow the current.
