Melbourne, Australia has been well known as being the most livable city for well over two years, and it certainly doesn't seem to be leaving that list anytime soon. Although surrounded with stunning scenery from luscious waterfronts, deep green parks and artistic architecture, these aren't the only reasons Melbourne's city suburbs and urban areas are well on the rise. With the new found style of living that has certainly changed the architectural style, the future is looking different, dense and much smaller within the boundaries of Melbourne.  "The bigger the better" certainly isn't the growing trend within Melbourne's housing market anymore. Instead, people are now opting for much smaller houses that are reasonable for the young lifestyle that has the city thriving.

THE CURRENT STYLE OF LIVING

The people of Melbourne are currently enjoying the past era's urban and suburban architecture trends in Melbourne that were once so popular; big homes, and large lots without any knowledge of energy efficiency. However, this is quickly changing, amongst a variety of other things within today's urban and suburban architecture trends in Melbourne. With the city filling up of young professionals, single families and international students, the style of living is certainly in its youth. As the younger generation takes over the housing market, the urban and suburban architecture trends in Melbourne have been changing to smaller, more energy efficient and costly homes that are essentially cost efficient in the long run. This has placed a huge importance on architectural style and what the future holds for the housing designs of Melbourne.

THE CHANGE OF ARCHITECTURE STYLE

With the city of Melbourne's population aging, significant changes have been introduced to both the urban and suburban architecture trends in Melbourne. Households are now becoming smaller and the initial cost of homes being much higher,  the need for an extremely large home is no longer realistic for a typical home owner. Now although the urban and suburban architecture trends in Melbourne have proven to provide an increase in the desire for smaller, single story homes with usable floor space, the actual design of the house has grown to be more complex with the increase of knowledge of energy efficiency.  As mentioned, this also comes with an increase of initial costs, but overall, provides a fairly price friendly home. Since the urban and suburban architecture trends in Melbourne have changed, the Government has placed a greater focus on the need to make suburbs with a high house density, while providing different styles of homes at the same time. This has created yet another new urban and suburban architecture trend in Melbourne, having the constructions of homes being produced by different kinds of builders, instead of one similar batch.

WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS

The urban and suburban architecture trends in Melbourne have shown that the housing market for the future is certainly going to be different from what it once was, from the designs of the efficient exterior, small space savouring, density and even the way in which homes get built. In fact, home builders are now becoming their own developers, often borrowing construction techniques that can be found in similar commercial developments, and although this change may seem insignificant to the naked eye, it's actually creating a different housing landscape all together, which is a direct result of the ever changing urban and suburban architecture trends in Melbourne. Different styles of homes clustered together within the urban and suburbs of Melbourne will soon be a trend that takes over. Desirable houses are now smaller, with the space being carefully used, with the design that savour energy and money in the long run.

Aside from Melbourne's leaf filled suburbs that thrive on a community full of terrific pubs, fine and tasty restaurants, endless green space and fabulous architecture, the change of architecture style trends has certainly provided a great potential for a large and youthful population increase within the suburban boundaries of Melbourne. Homes are now built close together, while all looking different from the next, yet still remaining petite and pleasant with the single story design. With that all said, Melbourne still remains as one of the most liveable cities within the Australia, and certainly many more people are about to enjoy the now energy efficient housing market.
