Peru is one of the last holdouts in South America against industrialisation. It has remained so because it believes that it should remain a poor country with poor health care outcomes. Despite its healthcare woes and poverty, Peru is home of some of the wealthiest men in the world. A rich man does not necessarily mean a wealthy individual, but an individual who can afford to pay for top quality healthcare and nutrition. The government of Peru has realized that it cannot continue to cater to the needs only of the wealthy.
