Apple releases iOS 16 and makes the new iPhone software update available for download.

Apple has released iOS 16, the most recent iPhone update.

The new operating system includes a number of changes, the majority of which are aimed at personalization, such as redesigned notifications and the ability to delete and edit messages.

At the same time, Apple released WatchOS 9, the new Apple Watch operating system. This updates the workout app to display new information such as running power, as well as some of the same personalization changes that are available on the iPhone.

Apple, on the other hand, did not release iPadOS 16, the operating system for its tablets. Those new operating systems have previously arrived at the same time each year, but Apple recently announced that the tablet version was not yet ready, and it is expected to arrive this month.

To download the iPhone update, go to the Settings app, select "General," and then click the software update button. iPhones should also automatically download the update and prompt users to install it.
