BED BUG PEST CONTROL SYDNEY
Bed bugs are small, oval wingless insects measuring 4-5mm in
length with a distinctive rusty brown or deep reddish-brown coloring. These
blood-feeding parasites belong to the Cimicidae family, with Cimex lectularius
being the most common species found in Sydney homes. Unlike other pests, bed
bugs are exclusively parasitic on warm blooded animals, particularly humans.
These nocturnal creatures feed by piercing human skin with
elongated mouthparts, injecting saliva containing anticoagulants and
anesthetics. This allows them to feed undetected while you sleep, typically for
5-10 minutes before retreating to their hiding places. A single bed bug can
consume up to seven times its body weight in blood during one feeding session.
Bed bugs are exceptionally skilled at finding hiding places
close to their human hosts. They prefer tight crevices in mattresses, bed
frames, headboards, and upholstered furniture. As infestations progress, they
spread throughout the room and even between units in apartment buildings,
making professional intervention crucial.
