The premier brand Deutscher~Menzies conducted its first auction in April 1998. Founded by Rod Menzies and Chris Deutscher, Deutscher~Menzies' arrival on the local stage was perceived as a bold and brave step that would see them compete with a long established Australian art auction scene. At the time many commentators questioned the company's ability to survive its first year. At the end of 2006 the company was restructured and under the leadership of Executive Chairman Rod Menzies, Menzies achieved their most successful sales on record.
