There have been a number of studies that claim to demonstrate the inhibiting effect of zinc compounds on the activity of 5-AR. This has prompted some researchers to speculate about the possibility of Zinc being beneficial in disorders related to raised levels of DHT. Follicle RX Most of the published 5-AR/DHT research has understandably concentrated on issues involving the prostate gland, but the results seem to show that when levels of zinc are low the conversion of testosterone to DHT by 5-AR is increased. In contrast, at higher zinc levels the production of DHT is significantly inhibited. The most readily absorbed form of zinc is zinc citrate and the presence of vitamin B6 seems to significantly increase the efficacy and bio-availability of this zinc compound.
