The historic village of Nimmitabel, NSW, is located on the Monaro Highway between Cooma and Bega close to the Snowy Mountains, surrounded by the rich grazing lands of the Monaro Plains. Nimmitabel is an Aboriginal word meaning 'dividing of the waters' - so described because the rainfall to the south of the village flows on to the Snowy River and rainfall to the north flows to the Murrumbidgee River.
